Before I start building or adapting a machine, I turn to Practical Farm Ideas. I don't know how many times I have flicked though my copies!

A home built bout marker maximises growing time for second cut silage.

With a foam bout marker you can get out and spread fertiliser accurately on any field. Instead of driving to wheel marks, all you do is follow the foam blobs dropped on the previous bout. They show up like cat's eyes.

If you haven't bought a foam marker, because the price seems unnecessarily high, you can make one in an hour or so.

The only part you may need to buy is a 12v tyre compressor. FARM IDEAS has been promoting the idea since 1992.

Gain growing time - it can be 10 days before the aftermath has grown enough to see wheel marks reliably

Spread accurately and so save fertiliser

Save time - there's no need to put up bout markers in the hedge

GET THIS INFORMATION! Vol 1, issue 2 pg 15 features the machine in our photo. A 25l plastic can and some pipes off a scrap sprayer - the Zetor has its own compressor. Cost? 2 welding rods to make the frame!
Vol 11 - 4 pg 11 has a marker made from an old fire extinguisher, and Vol 3 - 2 pg 34 has another similar one, but with differences. There's another home made one in Vol 7 -1 pg 17.

Buy any one of these for £3.25 50p p p or get all four at a special price of £10.45 £1.00 p p. Call 01994 240978 to place your order.
