Thank you for letting me know.  I would also like to let you know that your magazine is very popular with our students.  Many of the students at this school are from a rural farming background and it has been fantastic to have some reading material that appeals to them, particularly the more reluctant readers.

Blowing off combines is made easy

BLOWING OUT COMBINE SCREENS, ENGINES

Here's a brilliant way to keep combine engines, rads and screens on combines, foragers and tractors clean: Practical Farm IDEAS contributor Eddie Kirk has made the job much easier - using a garden leaf blower!

Chaff and dust on the screens and around the engine need blowing off and the regular way is to use an air line. Eddie also cleans off baler knotters and tractor radiators the same way.

"The blower lives in the cab, I can get it out and clean around the screens, the engine and the radiator itself in minutes."

Eddie used to tow a compressor into the field - but this is just so much more efficient. The Land-Rover was often being used for other work, including towing the fuel bowser. It means the combine is kept clean, so it works efficiently. And there's a far reduced risk of fire.

Leaf blowers on the internet.
There's a 2 stroke garden blower that's a discontinued line and worth looking at as it's the price of an electric one.  The Ryobi PBV-30, has a 30cc engine, 200mph blowing speed, can be used as a vacuum. There's a 2 year manufacturers warranty.

Garden4less of Burton on Trent, Staffs, tel: 08444 142042  or email: contact@garden4less.co.uk or order through their website www.Garden4Less.co.uk have it for  £88.89 (free delivery).  Most petrol models are between £160 and £200 . New models
all appear to have straight tubes while this has a curve at the end, better for blowing out engine bays.

Also try Paysan.com, ebay.co.uk or google  Ryobi PBV-30 or leaf blower

It seems like a superb idea that costs little yet saves a lot of time and hassle at the busiest time of year.
