For years, I have enjoyed and admired your logical and common sense written articles, often looking at situations in a way that few other people see them, and expressing a view that is enlightening and thought provoking. That must be a true journalistic flair!

Collector, accumulator for round bales saves time

Downloadable Report - Format PDF

Price: 0.99p

If you group bales in pairs in the field, it stands to reason you'll spend less time running around the field collecting them up.  You use less diesel as well, and it all does it's bit to help cut costs.  But it's got to be done by a reliable machine. One that keeps causing trouble is no use at all. You may as well spend the extra time collecting single bales.  Richard King finds he has no problems with his accumulator, used when baling the straw on the flat Lincolnshire fen land. Would it work as well on the hills?  With silage?  It would
need a season to test it out.  A look at the machine, however, shows that it is not exceptionally complex, and Richard made it quickly in the middle of harvest two years ago.
