For years, I have enjoyed and admired your logical and common sense written articles, often looking at situations in a way that few other people see them, and expressing a view that is enlightening and thought provoking. That must be a true journalistic flair!

Trailed snacker has divided hopper and feeds in piles

Downloadable Report - Format PDF

Price: 0.99p

Here’s a really professional machine designed and built by this extraordinarily gifted farmer-engineer.  This snacker is being used by a neighbour to feed 1,200 ewes, and he finds it works really well. Instead of spreading the feed in a continuous line, the snacker puts it out in piles, spaced around 7ft apart.  That’enough to allow the sheep to form a circle around each pile - they keep their feet out of the feed, cutting wastage dramatically. The feed rate is adjustable, and the snacker provides the possibility of feeding two different feeds on the same trip, as the hopper is divided in two.
