Wind and solar battery chargers for electric fencers

Downloadable Report - Format PDF

Price: 0.99p

Older farmers will remember when fencer batteries were made by Ever Ready, cost the earth, and added to the chore of strip grazing.  When fencers were converted and made to use 12v acid batteries, the costs were reduced but the chore was then in carrying them to and from the field. These batteries don’t like being charged and drained, they need constant topping up, so their life was often cut short. Keeping these batteries charged means an in-field generator, and the effective choice is between wind and solar.

The price of solar panels has dropped just about as quickly as their power has increased.
